Immune boosting turmeric milk – makes 1

Turmeric is gold for our health! Its most active compound, curcumin, is a potent anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant, which boosts our immunity and keeps us healthy, even during cold and flu season. I hope you find this warming 'golden milk' as comforting and delicious as I do.

What you need:

150ml soy- or any unsweetened plant milk

¼ tsp turmeric

¼ tsp ground dried ginger

A pinch of cinnamon

A pinch of ground cardamom (optional)

A little black pepper – black pepper increases the absorption of turmeric, it doesn’t have to be much, especially if the kids – like mine - aren’t into spicy foods

1 tsp maple syrup – or honey, if you aren’t strictly vegan

How you do it:

Pour the milk in a glass and stir in all the spices.

Pour the mixture into any milk frother (frothing the milk with all the spices already in it makes it extra creamy and delicious), if it isn’t one that heats up the milk at the same time, warm it up in the microwave first.

Stir in the maple syrup, sprinkle a little cinnamon on top and enjoy.
